Jam Pan™ Fun Facts

The Steel Drum, or Pan, is a unique instrument that comes from a Caribbean island called Trinidad. People hit metal objects such as pots and pans, biscuit tins, and oil drums to create beats and rhythms for dancing and parades. It was discovered that pounding the end of oil drums created different pitches, or notes. The steel drum was born! Today, steel drums are played in bands, musical concerts, competitions, and street celebrations all over the world. Their Caribbean rhythms and beats make fun entertainment for everyone!

How to Play Your Jam Pan™

Lightly hold Jam Pan with your finger and thumb on the bottom rim. With the other hand, hold the mallet and hit the notes on the top of the drum.*

Catch the Rhythm of Fun!

Try and create unique sounds and rhythms with your Jam Pan by hitting different spots on each note. The more you hit each note, the better you tune your Jam Pan.*

(* Note: While Jam Pan can make cool rhythmic beats of varying sounds and tones, it is soley intended as a souvenir replica of the steel drum instrument, and does not produce actual notes.)
